The Bandwidth Math
Each listener stream is approximately 128 kbps. Here's how that scales:

The bandwidth numbers are modest. The real constraint at scale is client count per access point — each AP can only manage a finite number of simultaneous radio connections before performance degrades. Enterprise APs are specifically designed for high client density (400+ devices), while consumer routers start struggling past 30–50 active connections.
What the Starter License Limits
The Starter license caps simultaneous listeners at 25 — suitable for private events, rehearsals, small yoga or fitness classes, and testing. The Pro license removes this cap entirely.
Practical Tips for High-Capacity Events
- Wire the DJ laptop — connect the host machine to the network via ethernet so it's not competing with guests on Wi-Fi
- Use 5 GHz only — the 2.4 GHz band gets congested fast; restrict the silent disco SSID to 5 GHz
- One AP per ~200 guests — spread APs across the floor at ceiling height, not clustered at one end of the venue
- Disable client isolation — many venue/hotel APs have this on by default; guests can't reach the DJ laptop if it's enabled
