How It Works

Silent Disco WiFi is a progressive web app — it runs in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge without any installation. The entire guest experience lives at a URL your DJ software serves over the local network.

The Guest Experience — 3 Steps

1

Scan the QR code

You post a QR code at the venue (print it from the DJ software in one click). Guests point their camera at it — no separate app needed to scan.

2

Browser opens instantly

Safari or Chrome opens the silent disco web app in 1–2 seconds. Guests see up to 3 channels, each with its own color and name your DJ set.

3

Tap, plug in, dance

They tap a channel, plug in their earbuds, and audio starts. Switching channels is instant. Volume is controlled with their phone's own buttons.

Why Browser-Based Beats an App

Does It Use Much Data?

Each listener streams roughly 128 kbps of audio. That's about 58 MB per hour — the same as streaming a podcast. On most venue Wi-Fi plans this is negligible, and guests don't need mobile data since everything runs on your local network.

What About Offline or Spotty Wi-Fi?

The web app requires an active connection to the venue's network — it's streaming live audio, not playing cached files. If a guest walks to a dead zone and drops off, they simply reconnect and audio resumes. See the enterprise Wi-Fi guide for tips on ensuring full coverage.
