What Guests Need
- A smartphone — iPhone or Android, any model from the last 5 years
- Earbuds or headphones — wired, Bluetooth, or AirPods all work
- Connected to your venue Wi-Fi — the same network as the DJ laptop

Tip: Put your Wi-Fi credentials and QR code on the same sign. Guests connect to Wi-Fi, scan, and they're in — no one needs to ask for the network password separately.
What About Bluetooth Headphones?
Wireless earbuds — AirPods, Galaxy Buds, Beats, Sony — all work fine. Guests stream audio from the web app through their phone, which then sends it to their wireless earbuds via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth link is local to their own device, so there's no interference issue at scale.
The main thing to know: Bluetooth earbuds add 100–300ms of latency between the phone and the ear. Silent Disco WiFi's sync system calibrates to this and maintains alignment across all listeners in the room.
What If a Guest Doesn't Have a Smartphone?
The web app runs in any browser — a borrowed tablet, a friend's phone, or a laptop with headphones all work. If a guest truly has no connected device, you can provide a laptop or tablet at a check-in table as a fallback receiver.
Earbud Tips for Your Guests
- Ask guests to charge their phone before the event if you know attendance will be long
- Over-ear headphones work better for loud venue environments where ambient sound competes
- Remind guests to set their phone volume before the event starts — individual phone volume controls the listening level
- iOS users on older phones: make sure the phone is not on silent mode (ringer switch up = audio plays through headphones)
